Diffwright 0.15.0: The Next Step
Summary — Diffwright is preparing its biggest evolution yet. Version 0.15.0 will expand Git platform support with GitHub and GitLab, introduce new ways to use AI through Anthropic, OpenAI and Codex CLI, and deliver major UX/UI improvements. Some features will eventually become part of a Pro license, while a genuinely useful free version will always remain available.
Diffwright is evolving quickly, and the next release will mark an important milestone for the application.
Version 0.15.0 will be more than a regular incremental update. It will lay the foundations for a more open and flexible Diffwright, capable of fitting into a wider range of development environments.
The goal remains unchanged: make code reviews faster, more comfortable and more relevant, without taking control away from the developer reviewing the Pull Request.
With this release, Diffwright is taking a significant step forward.
GitHub and GitLab join Azure DevOps
Until now, Diffwright has primarily integrated with Azure DevOps.
Version 0.15.0 will introduce support for connecting a GitHub or GitLab account as well.
The objective is to make sure that the Diffwright experience is no longer tied to a single platform. Whether your repositories live on Azure DevOps, GitHub or GitLab, the application should be able to fit naturally into your existing workflow.
This is an important step toward making Diffwright available to more developers, teams and organizations.
At first, these new integrations will be released in beta. They will continue to evolve based on user feedback and on the specific differences between each platform.
More freedom to choose your AI engine
AI is an important part of the Diffwright experience, but that does not mean the application should force users into a single provider.
Today, Diffwright can already work with tools such as Claude Code. With version 0.15.0, the available options will expand.
The plan is to support:
- an Anthropic API key;
- an OpenAI API key;
- Claude Code;
- Codex CLI.
The idea behind this approach is straightforward: you should remain free to choose the AI tool that best fits your environment, preferences and workflow.
For users of CLI-based tools such as Claude Code or Codex, Diffwright will continue to favor a local-first approach whenever possible. For users who prefer connecting directly to provider APIs, the application will offer that option as well.
In the long term, this will allow Diffwright to evolve alongside the AI ecosystem instead of depending on one model or provider.
A significantly better Windows experience
Version 0.15.0 will also include a large number of fixes and interface improvements.
Particular attention is currently being given to the Windows version of the application.
Diffwright is designed as a desktop application, and the experience should feel consistent, smooth and polished regardless of the operating system. Several Windows-specific behaviors will therefore be fixed or reworked, both in the interface and in the overall user experience.
The release will also include broader UX/UI improvements: clearer interactions, improved readability in several areas, refinements to review screens and various adjustments intended to make everyday usage feel more natural.
An ambitious release — still in beta
Version 0.15.0 will introduce many changes at once.
For that reason, the new features described here should initially be considered beta.
This includes:
- the GitHub and GitLab integrations;
- the new AI providers and execution modes;
- some of the larger interface and review workflow changes.
Diffwright remains under active development. Some features may therefore change, be refined or evolve quickly across upcoming releases.
User feedback will be especially valuable during this phase. It will help identify the workflows that provide the most value, the remaining friction points and the features that deserve further investment.
Moving toward a Pro license
Diffwright's distribution model will evolve as well.
In the medium term, some functionality will become available through a Pro license.
The exact scope and pricing of that license have not yet been defined. It is therefore too early to announce a pricing structure or a final list of paid features.
However, the goal is not to turn Diffwright into an application that becomes unusable without a subscription.
A free version will always remain available.
It will continue to provide enough functionality to meaningfully improve the code review experience and allow developers to use Diffwright productively without purchasing a license.
The future Pro version is instead intended to support the continued development of the project while providing more advanced capabilities for users who want to go further with Diffwright.
Once the offer is mature enough, all details will be communicated transparently before it is introduced.
Building the foundation for what comes next
More than anything else, version 0.15.0 represents a change in scale.
Supporting several Git platforms and several AI providers will gradually make Diffwright less dependent on a particular ecosystem and much more adaptable to each developer's way of working.
It will also provide the foundation required for future product improvements.
Diffwright will continue to focus on what it was built for: help developers understand Pull Request changes faster, identify the areas that deserve their attention and write better reviews, while keeping the final decision in human hands.
Version 0.15.0 will be an important step in that journey — and certainly not the last.
Thank you to everyone who is testing Diffwright, sharing feedback and following the project since its early releases.
More is coming soon.
